International Quit Smoking Day Rolls Around Again – May 30th

international quit smoking dayWhether you are new to the concept of a Lung Detox, or you have been dancing around the idea
of detoxifying your lungs and improving your health for some time now, May 30 th is your day.
But wait a minute, you say, that’s International Quit Smoking Day, not International Detox Your
Lungs Day, and you’d be quite correct in that assertion. However, the first step in any fruitful Lung
Detox program is to stop putting the tar and chemicals that are polluting your lungs in there, and
by quitting smoking, you are doing just that. And if you’ve quit already, well done, but you’re not
finished yet, and May 30th is a great time to make a move on that gunk that is still in your lungs. All
in all, May 30th is a great day to improve your lung health, and here’s why.

You’ll Never Quit Alone

Many people find the first step in a Lung Detox, the act of quitting and staying quit, a difficult
process. A lot of our customers have had several goes at quitting, and some have hand many quit
attempts. We’ve had a lot of feedback saying it’s hard to quit when others around you are smoking;
when you feel like you are taking that big step all alone. Well on May 30 th, you know for sure you
are NOT alone! There will be tens of thousands of people, all over the world, giving their lungs a
chance at health starting on that day. I know you should be one of them, and I’m pretty sure you
know it too.

Do Google searches in your area for International Quit Smoking Day events, rallies, support groups; if
you live in a big enough city, there’s bound to be something going on that you can join. Who knows,
while you are gaining support and that feeling that you are not quitting alone for a change, you
might just make some new friends that are ex-smokers. How good would that be? You can keep
each other off the smokes, and help motivate each other to clean up those messy lungs.

Quit Smoking Day Is Really Lung Health Day

So you’ve already quit, and it looks like this attempt will be a grand success. There’s nothing I’d
rather hear. So what can International Quit Smoking Day do to help someone in your situation?
Well, quitting is all about lung health, and if you’ve read any of our blog posts on our products, it
should be fairly clear to you that quitting isn’t the be all and end all – to really have healthy lungs
you either wait 10 years and hope that what’s still in there doesn’t cause cancer, or COPD or any
of a myriad of other diseases and complaints, or you do something about it, and get the tar and
chemicals out of your lungs ASAP! So International Quit Smoking Day is a great day to move forward
in your healthy lung journey, to take up the motivation to not only stay quit, but get that gunk out of
your lungs, and live a long and healthy life.

Whatever point you are at in your lung health improvement journey, our product, the Complete
Lung Detoxification Guide Series
, can help you along the healthy lung’s path. If you want to quit on
May 30th, we have a full booklet to help you develop the motivation to do so, and another one with
tips, methods, and information to give you a deep understanding of why you want to quit, and how

to go about it. Once you’ve thrown away your last packet of cigarettes, we have the Detox Guide to
help you clean up those lungs fast, and also a Stress Control and Reduction Guide to keep you calm
and quit. Whether you are quitting or cleaning up your lungs or both, International Quit Smoking
Day is your day for action!

So give it a go. You’ll won’t be alone.

Until next time,

stay well, stay quit, and lung-toxin free.

Cheap Drug May Improve Your Chances Of Quitting Smoking Cigarettes

quitting smoking cigarettes with cheap drugsSometimes quitting smoking cigarettes and cleaning up your lungs can be a bit of a rollercoaster ride with a repeating patter than might look like:

  • Quit
  • Start to clean up
  • Fall back into the habit
  • Rinse and repeat …

Some have tried gums, patches, and more drug related alternatives such as Chantix and Zyban. But these sorts of quit smoking aids get expensive over time, and a lot of us these days don’t have that sort of money to throw around with a rising cost of living. For those of us who have a rough time sticking to a quit attempt and affording these quit assisting treatments, there may be a cheaper alternative on the way.

Cytosine – An Old Drug That’s Showing New Tricks

Smokers are three times more likely to stub out the habit if they take a course of pills that costs just $3.20 a week, according to a British study. Scientists at University College London said that using cytosine, a nicotine substitute naturally found in laburnum seeds, could become the first stop-smoking treatment that costs less than a packet of cigarettes without subsidies.

The study, published in The New England Journal of Medicine, involved 740 patients who took cytosine or a placebo for four weeks. Participants on cytosine were 3.4 times more likely to succeed than those on the placebo.

For the approximately 1 billion (that’s a million million) smokers around the world, it could be the affordable assistance they need to finally break the habit. The next step will be US Food and Drug Administration approval, but once that is achieved, it could be a cost effective alternative to nicotine gums, patches and drug treatments such as Chantix and Zyban, presuming it’s released at a competitive price in the US and other countries.

You can read more about it here:

More Than One Way To Quit Smoking and Clean Up Your Lungs

Of course, Cytosine will be just one more alternative (abet hopefully a cheaper one) in the arsenal of quit and stay cigarette free methods you can use to beat the habit and start cleaning up your life and your lungs. However, if you want a comprehensive program that offers many different methods to motivate yourself, quit, clean up your lungs and reduce stress while doing it, you can’t go past our very own ‘The Complete Lung Detoxification Guide’ Series. Whether you have already quit, or in the planning stage of saying goodbye to nicotine for good, our Lung Detox Guide has all the advice you need to turn your next day free of nicotine into a lifetime of better health, and to speeding up the removal of all that tar and mucus that is still clogging up your lungs from years of smoking. Quitting is a good first step, but you need to follow it up with a lung detox ASAP to have the best chance of avoiding cancer and reducing other smoking related diseases.

So consider investing in ‘The Complete Lung Detoxification Guide’ Series today. We hope to add Cytisine to the list of quit assist treatments just as soon as it is widely available to help you quit smoking with much greater ease.

Until next time,

stay well, stay quit, and lung-toxin free.

News From The Front Lines Of Quitting Smoking

quitting smoking geneday, there are news reports and journal articles about discoveries and developments in the fields of quitting smoking and lung detoxification.

Here are a just a few:

You Think Smoking Doesn’t Affect Your Life Expectancy – Think Again!

According to a paper in the latest edition of Journal of Tobacco Control, smoking is responsible for up to 60% of the longevity gap between men and women in most European countries.  That is, smoking is the main reason why men die sooner than women.  Recent World Health Organization figures on death rates were the source of the discovery.

In the UK, women live and average of four years longer than men – although, in recent years, the gap has been closing.  Second to smoking, alcohol accounts for 20% of the disparity.

So guys, quit now, clean yourself up, and have a better chance of living as long as your woman!

Science Finds Quit Gene

According to a very recent study, scientists have pinpointed a source of nicotine craving in the brain, opening up a new path toward drug treatments to kick the habit.  This is highly desirable, given that tobacco kills more than five MILLION people every year, and accounts for nearly one in EVERY 10 adult deaths, 90% of them involving lung cancer.

In experiments with mice and rats, researchers have mapped the functioning of a gene called CHRNA5, previously linked with nicotine addiction.  The gene controls a receptor – an entry point on the surface of brain cells – which responds to nicotine molecules.  With a normal version of this gene, anything more than a tiny dose of nicotine triggers a message to the brain which says in effect “stop consuming,” the scientists found.  Larger doses [of nicotine] unleash a sense of repulsion, similar to ‘bad tasting food or drink,” said Paul Kenny, lead researcher at the Scripps research Institute in Florida.  But the effect was quite different in mice in which a tiny sub-unit of the receptor, known as alpha5, had been knocked out.  The negative message was never sent, and as a result the rodents couldn’t get enough of the potent drug [being nicotine].

Researchers believe a similar scenario occurs natural in some humans, genome-wide screening studies have identified genetic alterations which impair alpha5 unit functioning.

So there you go.  Your genes effect how easily you get addicted to nicotine, and likewise make it harder for some to quit.

Nicotine Patch Prices To Be Slashed

It appears that the Government in Australia has decided that nicotine patches are effective enough to be added to that country’s Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme.  Before this sensible move, the smallest pack of patches cost nearly three times what a pack of cigarettes cost.  With a doctor’s prescription, the price drops from between Au$100 – 140 down to Au$34.20, or $5.60 with a concession card.  Australian residents are eligible for up to 12 weeks supply of the quit smoking patches per year.  This is indeed good news.

If you don’t have the good fortune to live in Australia, our product, ‘The Complete Lung Detoxification Guide’ Series, has other, more cost effective ways to help you quit, stay quit, and detoxify your lungs as quickly as possible, saving you years of tar lung that increases your chances of cancer, emphysema and other related diseases.  Give it a try, you won’t regret it!

Until next time,

Happy New Year, stay well, stay quit, and lung-toxin free.

Exercise In The New Year – Vital To A Successful Lung Detox

Shake A Tail Feather, And Feel Better

exercise for lung detoxI’ve spoken on the importance of exercise in a successful Lung Detox before, but it’s worth repeating myself at this time, being the New Year period, when we all at least consider either starting, or ramping up and exercise program to help burn the holiday calories before they preeminently lodge themselves around our middles. But besides being important for general health, exercise is doubly important for your Quit Attempt/Lung Detox.

Work The Body, Work The Mind

Your body and your mind are intrinsically linked, and as things that negatively affect one have the same sort of effects on the other (e.g. smoking), positive things, like exercising the body, can help the mind as well.  During a Quit Attempt and Lung Detox, regular exercise improves your overall circulation, blood pressure, immune competence, reduce feelings of stress, and mildly taxing exercise will prompt the brain to produce endorphins, the body’s natural ‘feel good’ hormones.  As an ex-smoker doing a Lung Detox, endorphins are your friends, as they can take the place of any ‘good feeling’ you got from your previous, and oh so destructive, habit.  And if you get your exercise by participating in a sport that you like, you an even have fun while exercising!

Exercise has so many benefits, it amazes me that so many people actually WANT to sit in front of the TV and avoid it.  Sure, if you overdo it you can get aches, but here’s a tip; if you have a good dose of protein after your exercise, and again the next day (such as a big glass of grass fed milk, or a protein bar/shake etc, or a good serve of meat), then you will reduce those aches considerably.  Exercise can help you feel better about yourself, help you lose weight (best if you exercise in the morning), and help you sleep better (if you exercise in the late afternoon/early evening).

Then there are exercises that are specifically designed to open up your chest, working your poor, battered lungs to improve their function.  Our product, ‘The Complete Lung Detoxification Guide’ Series gives you a heap of good tips, and exercises to do, both to improve your general health (which helps your body clean your lungs) and breathing exercises to help open your chest and improve your lung function.

Tomorrow Is The Day!

Tomorrow we release the updated Guides for 2011!  We’re really pleased with how they’ve turned out, and we think you’ll get so much out of them, you’ll never look back.  So check back tomorrow for the release blog post, where I’ll give you an outline of the updated product, which will see you happily smoke free in 2011!

Until tomorrow,

Happy New Year, stay well, stay quit, and lung-toxin free.

Merry Christmas From The Team @ Lungdetoxification.com

A Christmas Message

On behalf of the team at lungdetoxification.com I’d just like to wish all our readers, customers and potential customers, affiliates and anyone willing to put the effort in to improve their health now and in the New Year, a very Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and all the best during this festive season and beyond.

Updates For The New Year

Speaking of the New Year, I did promise I’d let slip a few more details about what improvements we are planning for our flagship product, The Complete Lung Detoxification Guide Series, for 2011.  Now research into – and the understanding of – the mental and physical aspects of smoking addiction, best practice for lung detoxification and ways of improving motivation and reducing stress does not stand still, and neither have we.  Over the past year we have brought you a cornucopia of useful information in this very blog, and we’ve collected and sorted through a mass of hints, tips and methods in this field, to bring you the best updates for the past twelve months.  Now the posts here account for only a part of this new information, the best of which is being included in the 2011 version of our product.

For example, do you need motivation to get you ‘with the program’ and keep you focused on your goals of getting healthy and detoxifying your lungs?  If so, we’ve got that covered in our new ‘Motivations’ booklet.  Through a series of thought-provoking ‘question and answer’ exercises, you’ll explore what you have to gain from quitting, staying quit, and detoxifying your lungs, and with that kept firmly in mind, you chances of reaching your health goals will be that much better.

Our ‘Quit Smoking’ guide gives you a deeper understanding of why you smoke, why you took it up in the first place, and how knowing why you did something, gives you a much stronger basis from which to leave it in the past.  In this case, knowledge really is power.

Our ‘Lung Detoxification’ booklet is the meat and potatoes of the product.  Full of highly effective methods for getting that black tar and toxins out of your lungs, ramping up your immune system action, getting your chest open and working more effectively again, and as a flow on effect, improving the health of the rest of your body.

Rounding out the Guides, our “De-stress and Mental Fortitude’ booklet will give you a ton of tips and ideas to reduce your stress levels, and give you that chance to really kick the smoking habit, and to improve your lung detoxification experience.  Added to this, is a highly informative section outlining how your mind works, and how you can take control of it.  This synergizes nicely with the motivation section, and ties the four booklets together.

More To Come…

Keep an eye out for our New Year’s message, where I’ll let you in on the new additions to the ‘Guides’ product.  They really will help your chances of successfully following our guide program, and clearing your lungs of toxic cigarette tar – fast!

So again, Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays, and remember to keep us in mind as 2011 begins, as you realize you’ve overdone it a bit in the silly season, and it’s time to do something positive for your health.  It would be hard to do better than clear years of toxic smoking deposits from your lungs, and breathe easier in the New Year.

Until next time,

stay well, stay quit, and lung-toxin free.

Good News In Several Forms – New Lung Cancer Treatment And Lung Detox In The New Year

I have some good news. Firstly, it was announced this week in the Australian Herald Sun that researchers at St Vincent’s Hospital in Melbourne, Australia, have made a breakthrough in lung cancer research. They have identified a gene that makes squamous cell lung cancer tumors (that account for 30 – 40% of all lung cancers) grow and spread. From this discovery, they are working on a pill that will be trialed in humans next year (2011).

Associate Professor Gavin Wright, lead researcher of the team that is responsible for the discovery, has said…

This is possibly the most significant finding in lung cancer, full stop. The drug, which would be taken daily as a pill, could be standard treatment within three years. Hormones bind to a receptor on the FGFR-1 gene in the cancer cell, making the tumour multiply and spread around the body. If we block the FGFR-1 receptor on the cancer cell, it undergoes the normal programmed death that tired or diseased cells are supposed to.

Two drugs, which in the past had not been identified as useful, have now been shown to block the gene. The drugs have been shown to cause squamous cell lung cancers in mice to disappear in early trials. Human trials will be held in Melbourne at St Vincent’s and at the Max Planck Institute in Cologne, Germany. So if you are near either of these two places, and have been diagnosed with squamous cell lung cancer, you could do a lot worse than see if you can get into the trials.

This is indeed good news for some cancer suffers, however, here at lungdetoxification.com we are hoping you never get to the stage of needing these sorts of drugs. So to make it even easier for you to follow our comprehensive program for quitting and detoxifying your lungs, removing damaging tar and built up toxins from smoking so you considerably reduce your chances of developing cancer, we are adding new components to our product. This will initially be at no extra charge, and will help you with motivation to ‘stay the course’ of quitting and lung detox, and will make it even easier for you to follow the comprehensive information in our Guides.

So stay tuned to the blog, as I’ll be introducing you to the new additions to our product in the lead up to the New Year.

Until next time,

stay well, stay quit, and lung-toxin free.

Tar And Quitting Smoking – Some Important Considerations

So many people think of quitting smoking as a negative experience: dealing with cravings, fighting the habitual smoking action, adjusting your life to a different way to cope with stress, and then there’s the Tar.  It’s not something you think a lot about when you’re still smoking – it’s often no more than an inconvenience.  Brown on your fingers, teeth, and the odd bit of brown stuff in the phlegm you cough up every morning, but other than that, Tar doesn’t seem to bother you so much… or does it?

Some Facts About Tar

You see the thing is, you have a ‘secret stash’ of Tar deep in your lungs while you continue to smoke, which may have built up to truly frightening levels over years of smoking.  It’s down there in the bottom of your lungs, dark brown or black, mixed up with thick phlegm and sticky as sin, full off thousands of toxic chemicals and damaging your body with every day that goes by. Tar makes it hard for you to breathe, hardening your lung tissues to make it more difficult for you to draw breath.  Along with thick heavy phlegm (produced in reaction to irritation of your airways by smoke, known as Chronic Bronchitis), the Tar fills up a lot of the space in the alveoli – air sacks at the edges of your lungs were gas exchange takes place.  Toxins in the Tar leach out into your lung tissue and then into the rest of your body, damaging almost every part of your person and greatly increasing the risk of cancer.
Basically, you have a toxic time bomb in your lungs, and you definitely don’t want that in there!

A Common Experience

Here at lungdetoxification.com we get regular letters from users of our products, concerned when Tar starts coming away from a recent ex-smokers lungs.  Here an example:

Dear William and Mark,
I’ve been using The Complete Lung Detoxification Guide for several weeks now, and I’m concerned with the quantity and color of the mucus I’ve been regularly coughing up.  It’s thick and black, and it’s been coming up for nearly two weeks now.
My questions are, is this normal (I’m not dying, am I?!?), and how much longer will it go on?
On the up side, I am breathing a bit easier, and my chest feels a bit freer after doing the exercises you outline, so things are improving daily.
Regards,
John Coast
Miami, FL

The really important point with this experience, which is shared by most ex-smokers is, you are definitely NOT dying, it’s quite the opposite in fact. You are beginning to LIVE again! That black gunk in the mucus is Tar, the stuff I talked about earlier that you definitely WANT out of your lungs ASAP!  That’s what a good Lung Detox is all about.  Removing those toxins from your lungs, and allowing your body to function properly again.

Speaking Of Functioning Properly Again…

You know why your lungs don’t eject all this trapped mucus and Tar until you quit smoking?  Because toxins in the cigarette smoke paralyze and sometimes destroy small hairs on the inner surface of your lungs which are the lungs natural cleaning system.  Once you quit, they start to regrow and reactivate, sluggishly coming to life to start moving that vile gunk out of your airways.  Problem is, this can take up to 10 (!) years when your body is not fortified or helped in any way with this task.  You don’t want Tar hanging around in your lungs for nearly a decade after you quit; you want to get it out of there as quickly as possible, because each and every day it’s still in there,  your chances of cancer stay up, and a whole bunch of other diseases are continuing to damage your body, even though you’ve quit smoking.

So that’s why a good, well planned and well executed Lung Detoxification Program is vitally important to get you on the road to health as quickly as possible.  You owe it to yourself to give a Lung Detox a try after quitting smoking, as smoking cessation is only half the answer to improving your health.  Try our Complete Lung Detoxification Guide series for the most in depth, comprehensive Lung Detox available today.  Get that Tar out of your lungs fast, and live healthy sooner.

Until next time,

stay well, stay quit, and lung-toxin free.

Repairing Lungs – Can Placenta Stem Cell Therapy Help Repair Lungs?

The good news is medical researchers are always trying to find new ways to fix damage we’ve done to our bodies.  Bad news is, it takes a lot of money, and even more time, to make new treatments a reality for the general public.  That being said, the recent announcement of a breakthrough stem cell treatment that has helped repair lung tissue damage in mice is a great step forward.  But it’s only one step in the long journey to fixing damaged lungs.

As reported in the prestigious American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, a newly found type of placental human stem cell (that is, basal human cells that are not yet fixed into a particular role) have been shown to help reduce injury and scarring in the lung, and even generate new lung cells in mice. Associate Professor Yuben Moodley, of the Lung Institute of Western Australia, and the lead researcher on the project, has been quoted as saying that:

“cellular therapies, although in the early stages of development, may form a vital part of future lifesaving treatment. The big advantage is that we can get these cells from placentas that have been delivered and would otherwise be discarded, so there are no ethical issues involved. What we’re trying to do is replace any damaged cells in the lungs so the progression of the disease is arrested and there is also some suggestion that some cells acquire lung-like properties which we’d like to investigate more.”

Good news, but don’t hold your breath (pardon the pun) for this treatment for repairing lungs, as it’s at least five years off, if not more.

So far, they’ve only successfully treated mice.  The humble rodent is a good test subject to ‘get the treatment right’ before testing it on people, but still there are differences between us and mice that may affect how well the treatment works.  Going on what information I’ve been able to gather on the research, it’s very early days yet, and they are still learning about the effects of the stem cell treatment, so it could be a good few years before human trials might begin.  Once that happens, the powers that be will decide if the effects of the treatment make it worthwhile, and then there is the cost of the treatment.  Will it be covered by your countries health service, if you are lucky enough to have one?  Could you afford to pay up-front for it?

So don’t think you’ll be lining up for this sometime next week.  It will be a long time, if at all (some of these research streams don’t pan out, after all).  That said, there are some things you can do to increase your chances of being around for this future lung repair treatment. Quitting smoking if you haven’t, staying smoke-free and then detoxifying your lungs are important steps to your future longevity.

Consider our product, The Complete Lung Detoxification Guide Series, as not only a course of treatment to improve your lung health, but to extend your life, weather you’ve been a smoker for a few years, or a few decades.  At less than the price of a carton of cigarettes, can you afford not to give it a try?

Until next time,

stay well, stay quit, and lung-toxin free.

Redirecting The Immune System to The Lungs?

An interesting article caught my eye today. Researchers at the Trudeau Institute while looking for ways to fight against influenza have taken some steps to find out how the body directs its virus fighting white blood cells.

If they find out how to direct these essential defenders to the lungs it is proposed that you have a much greater chance at fending off sickness that starts in the throat and lungs such as the flu. This if course could have serious ramifications to all sorts of other uses if they know how to direct immune traffic to where it is needed most for a variety of injuries, sicknesses and conditions.

It may also help in lung detoxification if you could direct more traffic to help cleanse the lungs faster …. an interesting development. Full story linked below:

Directing Immune Traffic: Signposts to the Lung

In the meantime, just having a strong immune system and healthy body will have to suffice!
